Arthur Conan Doyle is a British writer, famous for inventing the detective Sherlock Holmes. He was born in Scotland on May 22, 1859 and died on July 7, 1930. Conan Doyle studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh. During his studies, he began writing stories. His first significant character, Sherlock Holmes, first appeared in 1887. In addition to the Sherlock Holmes stories, Conan Doyle also wrote historical novels, science fiction, horror and adventure literature. Arthur Conan Doyle left behind an extensive literary legacy that is still read and appreciated today.
